Curly Girl
Baylee absolutely loves her big curly poofs and never once thought they looked like “crunchy popcorn balls” as her schoolmates suggested. After the first day of school, to her mom’s surprise, Baylee wanted to change her hair. That was until she saw something on television that made her love her curls like never before!
Casey Ferrand McGee is a New Orleans native who has a television and media career spanning more than 20 years, from her days as a child actress in New Orleans to her career as a nationally award-winning journalist. She started acting at the age of 8, starring in commercials and musicals and studying musical theater. Casey became a journalist because she always loved writing and storytelling.
In 2017, Casey stopped getting her hair chemically straightened and made the bold decision to wear her short-cropped curly hair on the news in New Orleans. The first time she did it was because she'd cut her hair so short that she could no longer straighten it without the help of a hair stylist. Ever since, she's made the choice to wear her hair in natural styles that allow her curls to be a source of admiration and inspiration to women and young girls who have seen her on the news.
Casey wrote this book to continue inspiring young ladies to embrace their own beauty no matter what anyone thinks or says. To invite Casey for a book reading or to speak, please email [email protected].
